Sunny Ireland
A Fresh Start
I've finally arrived and it may not be sunny but it's certainly fresh! It's damn hot in Germany at the moment, so arrival in the "land of the cold and the rain" is actually a blessing! That said, if cold and rain is a blessing, then I must have done something very, very good in a previous life because I am being blessed to death this weekend! I'm fairly exhausted after the work that Andy and I put into the move but my family and I are here in Ireland and I'm quite excited to see where this change will take us.

As luck would have it, there's a boxing club in the town so I'm hoping I can convince someone to let me use the gym/bag for a few weeks until I get the dojo up and running. I haven't been able to catch the place open but I'm sure I'll be able to speak to someone sooner or later.
I've been doing a lot of research into the Irish MMA and Freefight scene and I'm pleased to say that it's a lot more solid than I had previously suspected. I've already received a surprising number of enquiries about the new dojo and I haven't even found a place to rent yet. I've also received some great emails from people involved in the scene helping me get to grips with things. Thanks to all that have welcomed me and helped me.
There's nothing really exciting to report right now but I thought I'd check in and say hello!

My thoughts are with you, friend Shane. I know very well how demanding a move is, and how exhausting. It's great to hear that you are already getting inquiries.
I know at least a little bit of what you mean. I recently have been going through some health issues of my own... nerve problems in hip, back, leg, etc. It was pretty bad but much better now.
With the pain came a lower tolerance to stress, and it became like a domino effect.
To cope, I have found out exactly what you said: Go deeper. My deeper infrastructure has been relaxing and finding the deeper point within. It has a genuine and very real calming effect.
Thanks for your post.
Hi Mark,
I'm really sorry to hear that you are experiencing health problems and that this in turn is leading to stress issues. I agree that total immersion and acceptance is typically the way forward and I truly hope that this works out for you.
Until next time,
Shane.
Shane, actually that comment was supposed to go on another site. I could never figure out why it didn't show up. haha. But thanks for your kind thoughts. I appreciate that very much. I am feeling much, much better and hope to resume training on the mat in about a week or so.
That explains a lot! I was wondering where the health issues comment came from. I thought you were refering to previous posts! That said, I have many, many health issues that I need to get sorted fast. So, it's all worked out well in the end.
Good to see you got there in one piece.
shame we couldn't have a drink - but ... one day :o)
